Knowing how to measure the performance of a health and safety management system through effective auditing is essential. Safety audits are part of due diligence and help minimize risks and the incidence of injury and illness to workers. This course is tailored to the needs of small businesses operators in the construction industry. It provides employers with the tools they need to measure the performance of their health and safety program against industry-accepted standards. Safety audits highlight program elements that exceed or fall below a standard and provide valuable feedback and direction for continuous improvement.

Description

This one-day course is designed to provide participants with an introduction to health and safety program auditing. It focuses on the principles behind day-to-day safety management, injury management and Certificate of Recognition (COR) safety program auditing. Participants obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to develop and maintain a small business safety program.

The course consists of three training modules:

Who Should Attend

This course is intended for the employee of a small company who is responsible for health and safety, owners and operators of small businesses, as well as other health and safety professionals who are committed to preventing workplace injuries through safety audits.

Course Requirements

This one day course can be taken on an individual basis, or as part of the CSABC Certificate of Recognition Program (mandatory requirement for COR). Note that Principles of Health and Safety Management (PHSM) is a co-requisite course in obtaining certification as a COR internal auditor for small business.
