Asbestos Awareness
Asbestos is a hazardous material. If not handled with caution, asbestos can cause serious, chronic health problems. Because asbestos fibres are extremely fine, they can remain suspended in the air for hours; and workers exposed to this hazard can inhale the fibres. Employers and workers need to know the proper precautions to take when working around asbestos. That’s why Asbestos Awareness training is essential.
CSABC offers this seminar specifically for construction industry workers who are exposed to workplace hazards. This includes employers whose operations require workers to handle or work in an environment with asbestos – and workers who may be required to remove or clean up asbestos waste material.
Description
This half-day seminar is designed for construction industry workers and covers basic background information about asbestos. Instructors outline the proper precautions needed when working around asbestos-containing materials so that workers can avoid developing serious health problems. WorkSafeBC has developed requirements, detailed in the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, that all construction workers need to know. This seminar helps ensure a safe work environment and covers best practice asbestos emergency procedures.
